Occupy the Milky Way?

Did you know that:

  • Only 3 stars (Sirius, Canopus, Arcturus) make up over 10% of the
night’s stellar brightness? That’s 0.2% of the visible stars
    controlling 10% of the brightness!
  • The 18 brightest stars (1.1% of the total number of stars) make up
over 25% of the night’s brightness!
  • A scant 8% of the visible stars are responsible for OVER HALF the
    night’s brightness?
  • The dimmest 586 visible stars collectively provide only 10% of the
night’s brightness: the same amount of brightness shared by the 3
    brightest stars.

Write your Congressman or something. Brightness should be divided more
equally among the stars!
