(You): How do I search for ALL eBay items near me without having to type in a search phrase into “advanced search”?

(John): you can’t – use have to use the advanced search to specify zip code and distance in miles

(You): right, I did that — but it won’t accept that — it looks like I *also* have to specify a search phrase or something

(John): well of course you have to add have keywords of some kind – or you get no results

(You): I just want to find all items near me, sorted by price.

(John): not possible – you must have keywords. I would know, I build ebay plugins for web sites for a living.

(You): well, I could loop through all the categories and do the search using the EBAY API, no?

(John): followupo

(You): followupo? [direct gchat: carter.barry@gmail.com]

(Dan): Type in “*” in the search field to list all items

(You): ” Please enter at least two characters before the asterisk (*). Example: dog*”

(Chris): You could do a search in Google that will provide results for all items for

sale in your town and or surrounding cities or towns. Such a search would

look like this:

site:ebay.com “new york”

or

site:ebay.com “new york” camaro

(You): thanks. Before I got your reply, I tried it using MAX and it failed — however, the DVD-R *did* recognize the disk which is a good sign

(You): thanks re the ebay search — I’m not sure how accurate and up to date that is. I think I found a workaround though, thanks.
